about

'Songs To Keep Us Warm' is a collection of B-sides, rarities, and tracks that were meant to be released over the last five years, as part of records that never came to be. After spending most of their existence as ghosts on Głós's hard drive and appearing in one or the other live performance, it is now time to finally make them available—rounded off by a new track recorded in 2021 that completes the package.

The EP's opener—'A Song To Keep Us Warm'—was initially created as a 20-minute soundtrack for a poster battle at Fachhochschule Dortmund. To this composition, several contestants were set to design and create a poster within a 20-minute time limit, in front of an audience. Over the years, the piece went through several changes and was later down the decade extended by a recording made during a string concert rehearsal in the St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church in Brooklyn, NYC.

'Two Swords' and 'Three Knives' were supposed to be part of a split 12" release in 2016, and set to be released on a label that never happened. Several attempts of bringing other imprints and said EP into existence failed ever since, until the other artist on the EP decided to no longer want his A-side tracks released. After all this time and a lot of unfruitful struggle, the B-side of said release now finally made the cut for Głós's ninth outing on Non-Print.

The three tracks are complimented by 'Alone At The Party', an Ambient recording made during the long winter of early 2021, that only now—hopefully—ended with the release of this EP. 'Songs To Keep Us Warm' shall serve as a personal reminder, and as a beacon of hope for everybody else—in memory of all the obstacles in the life of an artist, with their audiences rarely getting to hear the stories about all the projects that never got to see the light of day.

A toast to all the people with great ideas that seemingly find no supporters—this record is for you.
